Quarter Cap ROHS compliance | Quarter Stick Metal to PC/Nylon | Quarter SI in progress
Dear early supporters,
Our R&D Team have been working hard in and out with silicone manufacture, wire cut manufacture, coating factory and the new plastic injection moulding manufacturer over the past weeks. Things were not going as smooth as expected, however with your trust and support our team are positive that this will come to a past. Further details as follow.
1. Quarter Cap
Good news! We have finally received the Quarter cap sample.
After the test on sample units, we've request the manufacturer to touch up the mould in order to improve the grip. We are happy to announce that Quarter cap is under ROHS compliance certification, produce with hazardous free material.
2. Quarter SI
We are taking this very seriously and had been calling up our supplier for update every two days. The mould is still in the fabrication process after the modification being made. It is schedule to complete on next week. We will be able to receive the sample latest on the week of 18th January. If there is any changes after the first sample, the mould will be sending back for touch up and return in 1-2 days. As per the new schedule given, we are able to receive all the Quarter SI on the week of 1st Feb 2016.
Quarter Stick Metal
Right after the test of current out flow on our 1st Quarter Stick Aluminium, we sent it for Hard Anodized coating the next day. The hard coated aluminium Quarter Stick was returned to us two days after and sadly to announce that the test result was unpleasant. We took a day to redesign the 2nd quarter stick and send the drawing for wire cut, and later for hard coating. ( this process took us 3 days ) The new design test failed again after 50 times of plugging in and out, as the hard quoting fail to withstand the scratch from iPad Pro charging port.
Quarter Stick PC or Nylon
Our team had decided to abandoned metal parts and move on with PC or Nylon. PC and Nylon are non conductive material in nature, so it is very suitable to replace metal. To date we had meet up with two reputable injection moulding company to produce this part. We are dealing closely with them for 5 days now and will be finalise everything by next week. This is something bigger than wire-cut, as we need to produce injection mould and produce a very high volume of parts in order to bring the cost down. The injection moulding process will normally take 8 weeks to complete. However our new supplier is willing to expedite the whole process to 4 -5 weeks from tools fabrication to real prototype and final mass production. We will update a new shipping date once we secure the injection moulding partner.
